Happy Easter !

There has been some new changes on the bird scene around here, some winter species have begun to pop in, like the great kiskadee , wood thrush, thrasher, chipping sparrow, warbler, green jay, chat, wren, goldfinch, painted bunting, starling, and juncos.
Some other birds that have been here through the summer still remain like the mockingbird, doves (mourning, and whitewings) sparrows, green parakeets, and cardinals.
The cardinals have been comming together in a small flock of about 20, ( I counted 19 yesterday all here at the same time). That was a lovely sight with splashes of bright red practically everywhere I looked ! The Wood peckers are still comming to get their daily orange fix, but having to share with the Mockingbird.
It is strange to have the green parakeets and the green jays here at the same time. Ususualy the parakeets have departed before the arrival of the green jays, so there has been some conflicts there, loud grumps at each other and flight chases from tree to tree, very entertaining to watch.
The great Kiskadees seem to get the right of way around here. They are very territorial and will clear most of the other birds away from feeders or waters with their loud calls or by making threatening swoops above them. Their wings make a very loud clicking sound).
The snow geese and cranes have been drifting through the sky in small flocks, their loud honks are a very welcome sound and a true indication of winter, even if it doesn't really feel like it yet . I have been winterizing the gardens and habitat , spending alot of time outdoors with the critters and enjoying every minute of it ! (smile)
I hope that you all have been enjoying the seasonal nature and wildlife changes taking place around you too!

HAPPY FALL to YOU ALL
